7.5 X 53.5 SWISS CADET

The Kadettengewehr (Cadet Rifle) was adopted on the 27th of July 1898. Trials were done with the Mannlicher carbines and the Schmidt-Rubin type rifles. These single shot rifles had the powder charge of the loads reduced by around 10% in order to fit the smaller statue cadets. As these rifles were also capable of firing the more powerful M.90 and M.90/03 cartridge, the sights were modified so that the shooter could use different settings, depending on the type of cartridge fired.

This specimen was a sporting load by Zürich gunsmith Casimir Weber. It resembles an LT Cap type bullet utilised by British manufacturers. See also Datig III, p.31
