414 SUPER MAGNUM

Elgin gates started experimenting in the 1970’s with a new series of Magnum cartridges which he called Super Mags that was based on standard Magnum cartridges lengthened to 1,60in. in a variety of calibers, from .357 to .60in. in the beginning of the 1980’s he, together with Dan Wesson Arms produced revolvers in .357, .375, .414 and .445. The idea was to achieve performance that was superior to the similarly available calibers at the time. The performance of the 414 Super Mag was not what was desired at the cartridge never gained any traction.
