450 2½” COILED SOPER

Except for the bullet that differs from the one shown in Fleming, the measurements are exactly the same. Fleming states that it was developed around 1866 by William Soper to be submitted to the 1866 British Rifle trials. It was a competition to find a rifle to replace the 577 Snider service rifle. Mr. Soper submitted his rifle late and it was therefore not considered.
