450 NEEDHAM

Interesting development by Joseph Needham, but it was not a commercial success. The rifle had a tubular magazine with a 2 chamber cylinder which pivoted on a central pin, much like a revolver. Loaded by National Arms and Ammunition Company as can be seen by the waffle primer. The bullet was seated in the collar fitted around the case mouth with the powder filling the cavity between the case wall and the inner part of the collar. The collar positioned the cartridge at the correct depth in the chamber.
