7mm ELEY EXPERIMENTAL (7×63 mm)

The 7×63 was reportedly made for an experimental rifle designed by George Norman and made by the Birmingham Small Arms Company around 1910. It is speculation only, but it might have been the idea to submit this to the Chief Superintendent of Ordinance Factories in Britain. Trials were under way since 1908 to replace the 303 British with a .276” rimless rifle (see also 276 Pattern 13 Enfield).
