9.8 X 36R WERNDL TARGET

Designed by Roth circa 1880 and listed in the G. Roth 1886 catalogue. It remained in production until circa 1890. It was listed as Roth case number 44 with bullet number 3.  The dots on the segmented case were the earliest GR cases and they were later superseded with stars.  It was a fairly popular target rifle.  It could have originally been designed as a military cartridge which was only adopted for sporting purposes.
