The 10.4mm Swiss Ordnance M1878 revolver is the center-fire successor to the original M1872 rimfire revolver that was converted from rimfire to center fire as the M1872/78. Earlier cases were also issued with copper cases and outside lubricated bullets. Later versions were manufactured with brass cases and paper patched lead bullets. (Erlmeier, Brandt Ref. 151).
