Testing with the Cal. 30 Service case (30-06) started as early as July 1953 at Johns Hopkins University for pre-Salvo tests. These loads were done on commercial cases. In 1954 development moved to cases with elongated necks but resumed again in 1956 with the standard service case. The red-tipped specimen is a triplex loading.
