In the latter part of 1905 Frankford Arsenal was ordered to develop a full metal jacket revolver round for trials that would be conducted in the beginning of 1906. This is the Model 1906 .45 Revolver Ball cartridge. The official test lot from January 1906 proved successful and the ordnance Board ordered an additional quantity for revolver trials. There was however a number of revolver malfunctions during the trials and concerns were raised about the quality of the ammunition. (Erlmeier, Brandt Ref. 432).
